How often do you find yourself feeling angry and frustrated with the things in life that are, frankly, out of your control? The idiot that cut you off in traffic. The mystery dog that left that big pile in your front yard last night. Phishing emails filling up your inbox. Running back to the car to get your mask so you can go into the store. Your latest property tax bill. Great Googley Moogley, your life SUCKS!
But is it really so bad? Probably not when you consider the challenges and hardships that others deal with every single day of their lives. Be grateful for all we do have! Think about it. So many folks go hungry every day having to swallow their pride to feed themselves or their children. People with permanent disabilities who need help to do the most basic of things of everyday life and somehow manage to go on. The civilians in Ukraine living every single moment fearing for their lives, huddling and shivering in basements. And you think YOU got it bad?
The vast majority of us in these United States live pretty damn well. Most of us are strangers to real hardship and pain. Let’s try getting outside of ourselves and our petty problems and try to make a difference. Let’s be glad for what we have and share with those that need. We will all feel better for it! I often recall President Franklin D. Roosevelt’s speech about the four freedoms that should be ensured for all mankind: Freedom of speech, Freedom of worship, Freedom from want and Freedom from fear. Not a bad idea.
